Why does everyone hate this guy?

So... there's this guy named Paul...

You might have heard about this guy named Paul Johnson. He is running across the country, from Los Angeles to New York City, and raising money for charity as he does it. By the time this email will go out, he will have completed the run.

And he's getting all sorts of hate.

Why would a person who is accomplishing such an incredible thing get so much hate?

He garnered a LOT of attention because he was attempting to break the record for this kind of run. 40 days. There is not a lot of mention of charity in the initial videos. You can go watch it for yourself. And by not a lot of mention about the charity, I mean virtually none.

His van has "World Record Attempt" in big bold letters three times, and then tiny signs for the charity he's fundraising for.

In 4 days, he dropped that goal of breaking the record and made it all about the charity.

I have nothing against Paul. He's a better athlete than I'll ever be. And what's he doing is both incredible AND for a good cause.

But the lesson is clear: Be clear on why you're doing what you're doing. And communicate that clearly as well.

  • At work, be clear.
  • At home, be clear.
  • In running, be clear.
  • In soul, be clear.

There's a lot of damage from bait and switches out there. Don't be that guy.

And that is a theme that also runs through my book ASK!

Ask great questions. Be clear with those around you. Life is hard enough without uncertainty.

NEXT WEEK, I'll be releasing my first book. It's all about asking great questions to help you build relationships and solve complex problems.

I'm so excited to share it with you!

Just run one mile... because one mile inevitably turns to two... Then, to three... And before you know it, you're running further than you ever dreamed. See you on the trails! 🤙🏻
